The 8 & Under team represents the first year of AAU boys basketball and is largely a developmental year. We spend much of our time teaching boys the fundamentals of the basketball including ballhandling, passing, shooting, rebounding and defense. The primary goal with this team is to lay the building blocks that will enable players to progress toward playing the game at a high or very high level as they gain experience and mature physically. As the team progresses we expose them to increasing levels of competition with the goal of being ready to compete as 9u's for the AAU National tournaments.
We will generally practice once or twice/week as gym space and player/parent interest permit. The team will begin competition in earnest in late-November/early-December and will compete in Winter League(s) and Spring/Summer League(s) and tournaments in 2007-2008.
We are looking for talented boys who are born on or after September 1, 1999 or are in the second grade if born before September 1, 1999. We recognize that many players are involved in other sports and we encourage those playing other sports to give us a look as their Fall or Spring seasons conclude.
